General information about the foundation
To this date, CRIBS has served thousands of abandoned, surrendered, neglected and abused children.
CRIBS Foundation, Inc. (formerly C.R.I.B.S. Philippines, Inc.) was started in 1974 when two Lutheran missionary wives brought home two children form the Reception and Study Center (RSCC) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. CRIBS was the first non-government organization (NGO) in the Philippines to implement Foster Care Program.
In 1979, CRIBS was incorporated as a non-stock, non-government with the Securities and Exchange Commission. On the same year, it opened its home, called Receiving Home, for abandoned, surrendered and neglected infants by renting a house in Antipolo.
In 1983, CRIBS was licensed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as a child welfare agency to care for the abandoned, neglected, surrendered and female minor survivors of sexual abuse. In 1986, with the proliferation of street children, CRIBS expanded its program to sexually exploited and prostituted girls on the streets through the New Beginnings Program.
In 1999, the Consuelo Foundation provided funds with CRIBS/ counterpart to construct a three storey building for the sexually abused female minors. The facility is located in the same compound where the old house of CRIBS for the babies at. It can accommodate twenty five (25) girls at a time. Faithful to CRIBS mission, we, the management and staff of CRIBS are committed to continue serving these disadvantaged children to the best that we can.
